Why do I have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)?

The causes of Crohn\’s disease and ulcerative colitis are complex. These conditions result from a combination of genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that are not yet fully understood. Recent studies have identified variations in dozens of genes that may be linked to IBD; however, the role of these variations is has yet to be determined.
