How does stress impact Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)?

Stress does not cause IBD, but IBD can certainly cause someone to experience stress. For people with IBD, stress can impact your emotional health (causing feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, and/or distress) and research has shown that stress can also exacerbate physical disease symptoms and potentially be a factor in disease flares.
