Can I get pregnant after surgery for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)?

Having surgery doesn\’t limit you from becoming pregnant. With preparation in conjunction with your care team, you can have a healthy pregnancy and baby. However, there is a chance for decreased fertility if you have history of ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) surgery, proctectomy, or a permanent ostomy. Make sure to discuss fertility with your doctor to get connected to a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist or other fertility specialist.
